Lubes

Don’t let anyone tell you “If you are really turned on you won’t need a lubricant.”We women of Womyns’Ware Inc. think there is nothing sexual you are doing that won’t be improved with lube. Trust us: try a little or add a lot! Aside from the obvious uses, it reduces the chafing of five o’clock shadow or trimmed pubic hairs and reduces the frequency of broken condoms. Add lube to oral sex and instead of just a slippery tongue you now have a slippery chin, too. For vaginal penetration, lube means whatever you’re doing, you can do it longer without dryness as, interestingly enough, a woman’s natural lubrication may dry up as arousal increases. And the safest rule of thumb for any anal penetration is: use more lube than you think you need, add a little more and you’re on the right track! For anal use, pay particular attention to the lubes described as having a thick texture or density.

We never recommend lubes with the spermicide nonoxynol-9 as many people experience negative reactions and irritation from this harsh detergent. The vagina produces a number of secretions that form a natural protective barrier. Stripping these secretions out with a detergent can create open abrasions.None of our lubes contain this nasty nonoxynol-9. As you read along, you’ll see that we indicate whether lubes are water, silicone or otherwise based. All are non-staining and latex safe.A final word to the lube novice: “pillow pack” is a small sample or trial size bit of lube intended for single use. Most trial packs look like little miniature pillows, hence the name. For more information go to The Vulvar Pain Foundation.
