Aquatic (Water Use) Vibes
Whether you enjoy a retreat to a B&B with soaker tubs, or your only alone time is when you bathe, or like me everything you touch inexplicably flies out of your hands and ends up in the toilet, these water use vibes might be just the thing for you! We call them "water use" because they come from different manufacturers. Some are waterproof (immersible) and some are water-resistant (showering is great but don't immerse in the bath).
What does “Waterproof” mean? It means you can bring your toy into the bath, shower or on a watery vacation; but it's only waterproof for reasonable sexual use—not snorkeling-proof or for deep-sea dives! And for heaven's sakes, make sure the battery cap is tightly sealed before living out your Waterworld fantasy. You should observe some basic precautions and common sense during and after using it: (1) Be absolutely certain that the vibe is dry and clean inside (no water, no bodily fluids, no lube) before inserting batteries. Never put your vibe into water with these compartments unsecured. (2) Be careful during cleaning to keep water out of the electronic control panel and motor compartment (i.e., keep the cap on and sealed). Don't immerse your electronics in water for clean up. Soap and hot water applied with a damp cloth is fine. Wash away from the motor compartment and electronic controls; you don't want to force water into the unit. (3) It's good practice to air it out to dry after water use. If possible, store it open, with the cap off and the batteries removed. This practice minimizes risk of condensation build up or battery acid leaks. It's prudent to apply a dab of Vaseline to the O-ring gaskets every three months or so. (4) The main issue with electronics are the batteries, they do not do well wet, in fact they leak battery acid which is corrosive and can irreparably damage the inner workings of your vibe. So take batteries out immediately if you ever suspect you had your battery compartment closed less than “air tight”!
What's so great about water use toys anyhow? Well, let's start with the location: The bathtub. Many of us already enjoy quality time with the shower massage, because warm water feels great! It's relaxing and it makes arousal and orgasm easier. A water use vibe makes it easier to enjoy the benefits of the bathtub without the yogic contortions necessary for getting our bits right under that magic spot under the faucet! The bathroom is also often one of the only rooms in the house that has a lock! For those who enjoy ambiance, the bathroom is a small room that is easy to light with candles, scent with bubble bath or essential oils, and create an instant get away. One more suggestion: the bath or shower can be a lovely "escape" for people with kids ... the noise of the shower can mask what ever else might be taking place!
