Deal With It!Our 16-year-old guest reviewer has this to say about Deal With It!"A whole new approach to your body, brain, and life as a gurl: a teen girl self help book that touches on all aspects of puberty from body image, sexuality, hormones, suicide, and peer pressure. I like that it’s written in a way that is relatable. My favorite part is the collection of captions that are dispersed throughout the book from real teen girls who have experienced many of the same things as the reader. I also like that it focuses on self discovery through education on life issues such as religion, sexual orientation, belief systems and politics, self expression and even money handling and credit rating. I also like that it’s a book that boys can read because it will help them understand the [young] women that they are surrounded by and there is even a section about boys and what they are going through. It’s not a typical book for teens because it speaks to teens without speaking at them as if they don’t know anything or haven’t thought about these things. It’s also full of website links that can be helpful to teens who are thinking about their futures including ones for junior achievement and young investors! I’m worried that this makes the book sound too boring because it is not. It’s not only about self-identity, boobs, pimples, losing your virginity, multiple sex partners, hair etc. It’s everything a young person needs to consider before they enter the world of adults and it’s written in a fun and interesting way. It’s crazy! You just have to read it to see what I mean." Authors: Ester Drill, Heather Mcdonald & Rebecca Odes Price: $25.95 |
