Figo Wishing Dolls from Figa's Closet

Figos come from Figa’s Closet; they are full of love, positive energy and grant only good wishes. Write your wish on a small piece of paper, hide it in your Figo’s pocket and then hug your Figo very close to your heart. Close your eyes and imagine your wish coming true. (The pocket also makes a great place to store a little vibe or use it a the gift box for a vibe you are giving someone who your are wishing about!) Each Figo Wishing Doll is unique and handmade in Canada using reclaimed and vintage materials.

The Figo Wishing Dolls are designed and produced locally by B.C. artisan Claudia Segovia. Her son is working with Apraxia of Speech which is also known as verbal apraxia or dyspraxia, it is a speech disorder in which a person has trouble saying what he or she wants to say correctly and consistently. It is not due to weakness or paralysis of the speech muscles (the muscles of the face, tongue, and lips). Apraxia of speech can range from mild to severe. The funds from the sale of the dolls go to help pay for the therapy and to fund research and development of treatment options for people who are living with Apraxia of speech.

The Figos that are at Womyns'Ware are special and unique to Womyns'Ware in that they are naked! They've got friendly robust boobies and colourful swaths of fur over their pubic mounds! Each doll comes with a pocket that can be filled with wishes, small vibrators, lube pillow packs and even condoms! (some of the pockets are smaller than others so PLEASE SPECIFY if you are in pursuit of a condom-sized pocket). They are made entirely out of reclaimed and recycled fabrics and findings. Good for the soul and good for the earth!

In Claudia Segovia's own words:

"I started making Figos to raise money to help pay for my son Diego's speech therapy, who has a speech delay called Apraxia of Speech. The therapy is covered by the government until the children turn 5, but after that, we were on our own, having to cover the expenses.

My friends started falling in love with Figos. The Courier wrote an article and our story was on Global TV, where a wonderful young woman called Sasha saw it. She arranged it so Diego's therapy is fully paid for over the next 2 years.

Figos have been so wonderful and so loved, that we continue to make them, now donating partial proceeds to Variety Club, so they can help more children like Diego. Each Figo carries my wish for Diego to be able to speak fluently and with clarity, as well as positive and good wishes for the world.

Thank you for making all this happen."
