Glass Jewelry by Natali
Canadian glass artist Natali Baird is again showing her stunning Pyrex glass pieces at Womyns’Ware.
Humor infused “Eye Heart You” pendants, fossil inspired brooches along with simple yet adorable pieces assure there is a design for all.
Natali is a glass artist living in Bradford Ontario. Her works have been exhibited across Canada.
In the artists’ words ...
“Nature is my inspiration. The symmetry of a flower, cells in a leaf, fibers of a feather, irradiances of an insect's wings, all of these are delicate to the touch, yet can withstand the wind, sun and rain, like glass.
My work is made using the process of flame working, or lamp working. An oxygen-propane torch melts Borosilicate (Pyrex) at 2200c. This glass is incredibly strong, and all my glass is annealed in a kiln for durability. The tools I use to shape the glass are pliers, awls, mashers and tweezers. Heat and gravity do most of the work.
